National ICT R&D Fund has been established with a vision to transform Pakistan’s economy into a knowledge based economy by promoting efficient, sustainable and effective ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) initiatives through synergic development of industrial and academic resources.

The company funds a diverse range of ICT related technical R&D projects, events and human resource development initiatives – of national and international importance. Projects of commercial as well as social importance can be funded. Projects related to development of ICT related technologies and applications are encouraged. Projects in a diverse range of sectors can be funded. These include (but not limited to) application of ICT in telecom, education, security, SME development, agriculture, health, energy, textiles, leather, manufacturing, pharmceutical, retail, banking, services etc. Any organization in Pakistan can submit a proposal for funding. Details regarding our funded projects and requisite application forms are available on our web site.

The company is R&D Sponsor for CONNECT ICT Exhibition 2011, scheduled for May 3rd to 5th, 2011, at Karachi Expo Center. Our participation would consist of:

1. Presentation by company’s CEO, Mr. Fawad Younus in IT Forum on May 3rd, 2011.

2. Presentations / meeting sessions with interested stakeholders in our seminar area.

The following are key objectives of our participation in the event:

1. Improve visibility and national importance of the Company in front of various stakeholders.

2. Enhance networking and develop working relationship with a diverse range of stakeholders.

3. Apprise various stakeholders regarding projects funded by the Company.

4. Identify issues / problems of various stakeholders, for which ICT related projects can be conceptualized and funded by the Company.

5. Sensitize stakeholders regarding our funding mechanism and processes.

6. Identify potential investors, complementary partners for projects funded by the Company.

In this connection, a number of presentations are scheduled, along with meetings with interested stakeholders. Potential stakeholders for these presentations / meetings include (but not limited to):

1. Industries seeking facilitation in using ICTs to solve pressing issues / problems.

2. Chambers / Trade Associations seeking broader collaboration.

3. IT industry with potential ICT related projects for funding.

4. Universities with potential ICT related projects for funding.

5. Investors seeking ICT projects with commercialization potential.

6. Ministries / attached departments seeking broader collaboration.

7. Development Sector organizations (donor agencies, NGOs etc.) seeking broader collaboration.

8. International organizations seeking broader collaboration.
